WHO WE ARE

Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF) is a global movement founded over 70 years ago, when a group of Christian Second World War pilots shared a vision to use their aviation skills to help rather than harm, while spreading the transformational love of Jesus Christ. For countless remote communities across the globe, the arrival of one of our small aircraft symbolises hope, help and healing. It may be bringing with it vaccinations, food, school books, mosquito nets, building materials, Bibles translated into the local language or the best chance of reaching urgent medical attention.   Our aircraft carry thousands of passengers every year, transporting key workers from over 1,500 partner organisations. Our fast and safe flights enable them to reach even the most isolated villages bringing essential services and facilities. By saving our partners hours and days travelling by foot, car or boat we can help save and transform more lives in the communities we serve.

MAF International is the operational wing of the organisation and oversees the local programmes in their host countries

In 2015 we moved our Flight Training from Coldstream to our brand new Training Centre in Mareeba, Australia alongside our existing engineering base there. This forms part of our long term strategy to grow and develop mission pilots and engineers to meet the increasing recruitment need across all our programmes.

Our Associate Members, MAF Canada and MAF-US, and our MAF Affiliates also run a number of programmes around the globe, completing the MAF family. None of the life changing work we enable would be possible without the dedicated support –people, financial and prayer – provided by our Resourcing Groups based in Australia, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, India, Italy, Malaysia, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, the Philippines, Singapore, South Africa, Sweden, Switzerland, the UK and the US.

MAF operates in over thirteen different programmes. Find out more here.
